Where do these rumors come from? I can’t imagine the Suns trading Steve Nash after the Mavs just won an NBA Championship by keeping their core players together. I don’t see a player in this draft that could carry a franchise, or even lead a team to a winning season. At least not right away. It’s a weak draft. The Suns need a go-to scorer, somebody who can score in the fourth quarter. If we can get that player we can compete for a Western Conference Title, and beyond.
Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby had an emphatic response to a Wednesday morning espn.com report that the Suns have discussed trading Nash to Minnesota in a package for the No. 2 pick in Thursday’s draft. It came on the heels of denying another espn.com report that the Suns explored sending Marcin Gortat to Minnesota. “We are not trading Marcin Gortat. Period. End of sentence,” Babby said Wednesday morning. “We are not trading Steve Nash. Period. Exclamation point.”
